Zaya Starr | A lifetime on the stage.

When I was a boy my father took me traveling with the caravan he performed with “Thy Fairy Pranksters” a traveling show with belly dancers, fire dancers, actors and stage craft. And when I was 6 my father took me out onto stage and set my staff on fire for the first time, and the weight of being so small with this heavy tool of fire was indescribably entrenched in me.

From the beginning it’s been paramount to create your dance, it is a flowing speech. It captivates, it enthralls, people are shocked and at the edge of their seat in anticipation. Your excitement is our trade. Our joy dulls the drudgery like the gold of the Sun.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.
